The long-awaited groundbreaking for the expansion and renovation to the Pickering Manor senior community in Newtown Township, PA finally took place Thursday. K&A designed the expansion and renovation of their community to create four distinct ‘neighborhoods’ that would offer a contemporary lifestyle plus desirable amenities to their senior residents. The neighborhoods include a new 15-unit Personal Care Home, a new 15-unit subacute Rehab, the gut renovation to modernize the outdated Skilled Nursing wings and the design of a secure, dedicated Memory Care/Alzheimer’s neighborhood.
In addition to the new amenities within the building, a sensory garden for Memory Care residents, a landscaped interior courtyard with terraces and multiple porches/decks offer the residents a wide variety of outdoor spaces for dining, recreation, and socialization. Wohlsen Construction Company was selected to do the construction that will be sequenced over the course of 24 months. First will be the development of the new Personal Care and Rehab neighborhoods, plus the Lobby and Office wing. Once complete and occupied, the renovation to the existing Skilled Nursing and new Memory Care neighborhoods will commence.
